    :

I noticed no one reviewed this scope so thought i’ll write a few words on it. I am a dedicated hiker and also an amature birdwatcher. I owned a few binoculars from Vortex over the years and picked up this Diamondback scope let year. This is my first scope so i can’t compare it to the others here on the site. I am using this exact model 20-60×60.

So far I am extremely impressed with it!! It is easy to setup and use with no prior experience. It is light weight yet a beautiful product and seems to be very strong and solid. Nice to have waterproofing and lifetime warranty so I wouldn’t be surprised if it will keep serving me for the next 20 years! As far as I could see there were never any distortions, blurriness or dark areas on the image. Viewing on foggy days where my binos seemed a-bit dark this scope delivered a much brighter image. The zoom works smooth. Eye relief is good too and I found no issue using it with my glasses on. Focusing works by adjusting the standard and the fine tuning focus wheels. It is important to always set the fine focus. Once I did that I really loved the crisp images and started seeing details I’ve never noticed on birds before.

The angled eyepiece is something i’ve never used before. It took me a couple od days to get used to but like everyone says here it’s def. better. Especially when looking upwards. Personally I find this method of viewing much easier on my neck. You can also twist the eyepiece sideways which is useful if you’re sitting down (no need to further lower the scope). Now for the bad side.. and i’m actually struggling to find one! my mate’s got the same scope with the 80mm objective lens. Looking back I would have invested the extra $80 or so. The bigger angle of view of the 80mm model makes up for its extra weight. But again, my model is fantastic and easier to carry so all good! Last thing to mention – this scope does NOT come with its own tripod. I am using my camera tripod which works fine for me. But it’s a pretty good and solid tripod and did not come cheap. Was over $150 at the time.. This Vortex Diamondback is such a nice scope so it’s a shame it does’t come with a tripod included.

    HAPPY BIRDING!! EM.
